Die Aufnahmen der Serie »Units« zeigen Installationen aus normierten Kalksandsteinblöcken. Die Anordnung der Steine nimmt Bezug auf vorgefundene, teilweise bereits verfallene Mauern. Während einige Rekonstruktionen scheinbar zusammenhangslos und dekonstruiert nur noch vom Verfall ihrer Vorbilder zeugen, verweisen die besser erhaltenen Exemplare durch ihre schematische Anordnung auch auf die kulturelle Dimension von Mauern als strukturgebende Elemente der Raumbegrenzung und der materiellen aber auch kulturellen Konstruktion eines Innen und Außen.

The photographs in the series “Units” show installations made from standardized sand-lime brick blocks. The arrangement of the bricks refers to existing walls, some of which are already in a state of decay. While some of the reconstructions appear disconnected and deconstructed, bearing little more than traces of the deterioration of their original models, the better-preserved examples, through their schematic arrangement, also point to the cultural dimension of walls as structuring elements of spatial boundaries and of the material as well as cultural construction of an inside and an outside.
