Die begehbare Rauminstallation »Operating Conditions« thematisiert die Gestaltung moderner Justizvollzugsanstalten und basiert auf künstlerischen Recherchen zu sogenannten Suizidpräventionszellen. Eine monumentale Glasscheibe ermöglicht die permanente Überwachung der Gefangenen und soll verhindern, dass sie sich selbst verletzen. Zugleich zielt eine als »empathisch« beschriebene Raumgestaltung darauf ab, eine »positive Atmosphäre« zu erzeugen.

The walk-in installation “Operating Conditions” addresses the design of contemporary prisons and is based on artistic research into so-called suicide-prevention cells. A monumental glass panel enables the constant surveillance of prisoners and is intended to prevent them from harming themselves. At the same time, a spatial design described as “empathetic” aims to create a “positive atmosphere.”
